Do I need any experience to try scuba diving?
No experience or certification is required. Our Try Diving program is specifically designed for complete beginners. You will start with a pool training session where your instructor teaches you the basics in shallow, calm water before heading to the ocean.
Is try diving safe for beginners?
Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. Every beginner dives with a certified instructor at a strict 1:2 ratio — that means one instructor for every two beginners. You receive thorough pool training before entering the ocean, and your instructor stays with you at all times throughout the dive.
Can I see manta rays on my first dive?
Yes! Our daily boat trips visit Manta Point where manta rays are spotted approximately 90% of the time. Many first-time divers have their very first underwater encounter with these gentle giants during their try dive experience. While wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, Nusa Penida offers some of the highest manta encounter rates in the world.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Basic water comfort is recommended, but you do not need to be a strong swimmer. Your instructor will be with you at all times, and the buoyancy control equipment keeps you stable underwater. The pool session helps you build confidence before the ocean dives.
What if I don't speak the same language as my instructor?
No worries at all! Our guides speak English, and scuba diving universally relies on hand signals underwater — so language is never a barrier. The theory briefing can also be assisted by our Selena AI, which can help translate information in any language.
What do I receive after completing my try dive?
You receive a Participation Letter upon completion. If you choose to add the optional certification (IDR 400,000), you will receive an internationally recognized dive certification. Many guests love the experience so much they continue with our Open Water Course to become fully certified.
What if I change my mind after the pool session?
If you decide not to continue to the ocean dives after completing the pool training session, a mandatory pool fee of IDR 300,000 applies to cover the instructor and facility costs. This is a standard industry practice to ensure fair compensation for your instructor's time and preparation.
How do I get to Sanctum Dive from Bali?
The fastest option is a fast boat from Sanur Harbor to Banjar Nyuh Harbor (approximately 45 minutes). Our dive center is just 1–5 minutes from the harbor. You can book tickets at ticketboat.id, or we can arrange a private transfer including pickup, round-trip boat, and return car for IDR 600,000 per person (minimum 2 people). What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel anytime — just notify us at least 1 day ahead. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, we are happy to move your booking to a new date subject to availability. Simply notify us as soon as possible.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is always the top priority. In severe weather, the boat captain has the final say and may reroute to calmer, safer dive sites (at least 1 dive will still be possible). If you choose not to dive at all, a mandatory IDR 300,000 surcharge applies to cover boat and operational costs.
